Ready for Bonfire Night? Keep it Fun and Safe We always recommend attending an organised display, but if you’re planning one at home, please follow these important safety tips: Bonfire Safety Avoid building your fire underneath trees or too close to hedges and bushes. Never use accelerants such as petrol or paraffin to light your fire. Never leave a lit bonfire unattended. Ensure you have a supply of water nearby to dampen flames if necessary. Check for wildlife before lighting your bonfire. Keep pets and children well away. Firework Safety Always buy fireworks from a reputable seller. Every firework should have a UKCA mark to show it meets safety standards. Keep fireworks in a closed box and use them one at a time. Read and follow the instructions on each firework, using a torch if needed. Light fireworks at arm’s length with a taper and stand well back. Never return to a firework once it has been lit. Direct any rocket fireworks well away from spectators and flammable objects such as bushes and trees. Please share this advice with family and friends and make Bonfire Night enjoyable and safe for everyone. | ||
